He handed it to you as he sat back down, putting his arm back where it belonged around you. Cas returned a minute later with a bottle of water from the snack table. You waited for a moment, resting your head against the wall beside you. "I'll be right back." He said as he made his way down the stairs again and out of sight. You tried to take deep breaths and focus on the stairs beneath you and Cas's arm around you when suddenly you felt it lift. "They were just enjoying the party." You sighed. Those people were very rude to push against you like that." Sometimes when I get too much stimulation." "I came as soon as I sensed your discomfort." He said quietly. Cas had his arm around you and you had your eyes closed and your face in your hands. The music from downstairs was muted and had changed to a slower pop song. You both climbed a little over halfway up the steps and sat down on them. Cas pulled you through the now-unblocked doorway, past a few confused faces, and toward a set of carpeted stairs. You felt safe and it was like the world around you had melted away, or at least dimmed down. You recognized the tan trenchcoat and the smell of fresh linen and rain that accompanied your favorite angel as he pulled you out of the crowd and into a hug. Suddenly, a warm hand gently grabbed your wrist and pulled you close. The music seemed louder and faster and your world started to get dizzy. People stepped on your feet and you started to panic. You found yourself getting slowly pushed into the fray and getting a little scared. You backed up quickly to get back to the snack table but found it surrounded as well. The strobe changed to match the music and people yelled and danced with more vigor than before. The music that before had been some modern pop tune, changed and became some very loud and screechy dubstep with an obnoxious amount of percussion. As you tried to back out of the room, a couple started to make out passionately in the doorway, blocking you in the room. The music was much louder here and you could barely hear yourself think. You just grabbed a few crackers and shielded your eyes from the strobe lights. You made your way through the living room-turned-dancefloor to a table that had messy-looking finger foods, sugary drinks, and beer piled high. Dean had dropped you off there and would be back in about an hour anyway. You sighed and resigned yourself to just trying to enjoy the party for a bit. You had thought that this college party would be a good place to get information from the locals for your hunt but quickly realized after only a few tries that everyone was too high, drunk, or distracted to get anything out of. It was packed like sardines in the too-small house and the smell of sweaty college kids and cheap beer permeated the air. Loud music blared from somewhere deeper in the house and you could hear people yelling something about shots in what looked like the kitchen. The sound of the party engulfed you as you walked in the door.Įveryone was talking to each other, drinking, and dancing too much to notice you.
